Altima Communications, Inc. was a semiconductor company that specialized in designing and developing integrated circuits for broadband communications. The company's products were used in various applications such as digital subscriber line (DSL) modems, wireless local area networks (LANs), and networking equipment.
Founded in 1996, Altima Communications quickly established itself as a leader in the field of Ethernet physical layer devices (PHY). In 2000, it was acquired by Broadcom Corporation, one of the major players in the semiconductor industry. After this acquisition, Altima’s technology became an integral part of Broadcom's portfolio and contributed to their expansion into Ethernet switch market.
