ATI
Array Technology Industry (ATI) was a globally significant display chip company, renowned for its manufacturing of display chips. It held a position of prominence in the industry, on par with NVIDIA. From 1985 to 2006, ATI was headquartered in Markham, Ontario, Canada, until it was acquired by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a U.S.-based company.
At its peak, ATI had over 3,700 employees spread across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, and it generated revenue of $2.2 billion. As a fabless semiconductor company, ATI specialized in designing and selling a broad range of products, including graphics cards, graphics processors, chipsets, set-top boxes, digital TVs, electronic game consoles, and handheld devices. These products were suitable for personal computers and played a significant role in advancing the capabilities and performance of these devices.
After the acquisition by AMD, ATI's technology continues to be a key component of AMD's products, contributing to the company's continued success in the competitive semiconductor industry.
