Circuit Breakers

Circuit breakers are automatic electrical switches designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by excess current from an overload or short circuit. Their basic function is to interrupt current flow after a fault is detected. Unlike fuses, which must be replaced after one use, circuit breakers can be reset (manually or automatically) to resume normal operation. This makes them a crucial component in maintaining the safety and integrity of the electrical systems they protect.

The main uses of circuit breakers include safeguarding residential and commercial buildings' electrical systems, industrial equipment, and electrical appliances. They are characterized by their ability to provide precise protection and ease of maintenance. Circuit breakers vary in size and complexity; from small devices that protect low-current circuits or household appliances, up to large switchgear designed to protect high voltage circuits feeding an entire city. Some well-known manufacturers of circuit breakers include Siemens, Schneider Electric, and Eaton.
