Loongson Zhongke announced yesterday morning that recently, the new generation of quad-core processor Loongson 3A6000 based on the Dragon architecture has been successfully taped out, representing the latest milestone in China's independent desktop CPU design field.
What is Loongson 3A6000?
The Loongson 3A6000 processor adopts LoongArch, the independent instruction system of Loongson. From the top-level architecture to the command function and ABI standard, the dragon architecture is all independently designed without foreign authorization. The Dragon architecture has been supported by hundreds of international software open source communities related to the command system, and has been supported by operating systems such as Tongxin, Kirin, Euler, Dragon Li, and Hongmeng With the support of basic applications such as WPS, WeChat, QQ, DingTalk, and Tencent Conference, it has formed a basic software ecosystem that is parallel to X86 and ARM.
Loongson 3A6000 processor is the first product of Loongson’s fourth-generation micro-architecture, integrating 4 newly developed high-performance 6-launch 64-bit LA664 processor cores. The main frequency reaches 2.5GHz, supports 128-bit vector processing extended instructions (LSX) and 256-bit advanced vector processing extended instructions (LASX), **supports simultaneous multi-threading technology (SMT2), and a total of 8 logical cores** on the chip. Loongson 3A6000 integrates a dual-channel DDR4-3200 controller on-chip, and integrates a secure and trusted module, which can provide secure boot solutions and national secret (SM2, SM3, SM4, etc.) application support.
Compared with the previous generation Loongson 3A5000 desktop CPU, Loongson 3A6000 improves single-thread performance by more than 60% under the same process, and double-chip multi-thread performance. The server CPU being developed by Loongson Zhongke will double the performance of the previous generation 16-core Loongson 3C5000 and 32-core Loongson 3D5000 server CPUs.
Loongson 3A6000 is software compatible with Loongson 3A5000 and other Loongson architecture CPUs. A few days ago, Godson submitted a patch to support the 3A6000 hyperthreading function to the Linux kernel upstream community to support the enhanced features of 3A6000 hyperthreading function detection and scheduling. Loongson 3A6000 further improves and enhances the binary translation level of software and hardware collaboration, which can run more cross-platform applications and meet various large-scale and complex desktop application scenarios.
Loongson 3A6000 Processor Performance Parameters
According to the test results of the Saixi Laboratory of the China Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization, the Loongson 3A6000 quad-core processor operates at 2.5GHz, and the SPEC CPU 2006 base single-thread fixed/floating point scores reach 43.1/54.6 points respectively, and the SPEC CPU 2006 base The multi-threaded fixed/floating point score reaches 155/140 points respectively, the measured bandwidth of the dual DDR4-3200 memory channel Stream exceeds 42GB/s, and the measured Unixbench score exceeds 7400 points. Based on relevant test results, the overall performance of the Loongson 3A6000 processor is comparable to Intel's 10th-generation Core quad-core processor that will be launched in 2020.
