Seoul, South Korea, November 13, 2023 - SK hynix announced on the 13th that the company officially supplies LPDDR5T (Low Power Double Data Rate 5 Turbo) 16GB (Gigabit) capacity package products to customers, which is the fastest to date Mobile DRAM products can achieve transmission speeds of 9.6Gpbs per second (9.6 gigabits per second).

LPDDR (Low Power Double Data Rate): It is a DRAM specification used in mobile products such as smartphones and tablets. It aims to minimize power consumption and has low-voltage operating characteristics. LPDDR5X DRAM is the seventh generation product, and this series of products is developed in the order of 1-2-3-4-4X-5. LPDDR5T is the first product developed by SK Hynix in the industry. It is a product that further upgrades the performance of the seventh-generation LPDDR (5X) before the official launch of the eighth-generation LPDDR6.
Since the successful development of LPDDR5T in January this year, SK hynix has continued to promote the commercialization process of this product through performance verification with mobile application processor (AP) manufacturers around the world.
Mobile AP: A semiconductor chip that acts as the "brain" in a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet. It is also the central processing component in a system-on-chip (SoC), which is a single chip that integrates a complete set of products and systems such as computing, graphics, and digital signal processing.
SK Hynix said that LPDDR5T is by far the best memory product that can achieve the greatest improvement in smartphone performance, and its speed has reached unprecedented heights. The company also emphasized that it will continue to expand the application scope of this product and further lead the iteration in the mobile DRAM field.
LPDDR5T's 16 GB capacity package operates within the minimum voltage standard range of 1.01 to 1.12V (volts) specified by the International Organization for Semiconductor Standardization (JEDEC). The product's data processing speed is 77GB per second, which is equivalent to transferring 15 Full-HD (FHD) movies per second.
The company recently officially supplied the product to vivo, a global smartphone manufacturer. Vivo also announced that its latest smartphones, the X100 and X100 Pro, will be equipped with SK Hynix’s latest memory set products.
At the same time, the smartphone will also be equipped with MediaTek’s top AP MediaTek Dimensity 9300. In August this year, SK Hynix confirmed that it had completed performance verification with MediaTek’s new generation mobile AP.
Park Myung-soo, vice president of DRAM marketing at SK hynix, said: "With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, smartphones have gradually become an important device equipped with end-side AI technology. The market demand for high-performance, large-capacity mobile DRAM products is growing. "
Device-side AI: Artificial intelligence technology that can implement AI functions on terminal devices without performing calculations through physically separated servers. Since smart devices can collect and process information on their own, AI functions will respond more quickly and provide more customized AI services.
Vice President Park also added: "With its technological leadership in the field of artificial intelligence memory, the company will continue to meet market demand and lead the high-end DRAM market."
