ChatGPT banned in Italy, restricted by Samsung Electronics

ChatGPT is a natural language processing tool based on artificial intelligence technology, which can automatically reply to users' questions and conduct dialogue interactions. It is widely used in many fields, including smart customer service, smart home, autonomous driving, etc.

However, as the application of ChatGPT continues to expand, people start to have concerns about its privacy and security. Some countries and organizations have begun to restrict the use of ChatGPT to prevent it from being used for inappropriate purposes.

Italy announces ban on ChatGPT

Recently, the Italian Personal Data Protection Agency announced that it will ban the use of OpenAI's ChatGPT language model, restrict OpenAI's processing of Italian user information and start an investigation to deal with privacy and security concerns.

The decision of the Italian government was made after considering that ChatGPT may be used for the dissemination of rumors and false information, as well as the leakage of personal privacy data. It is reported that the ban will be implemented on March 31 local time and will cover various fields such as government agencies, enterprises and public institutions.

OpenAI must inform the Italian Personal Data Protection Agency, through its representatives in Europe, of the measures the company has taken to implement the agency's requirements within 20 days, or it will be fined up to 20 million euros or 4% of the company's global annual turnover.

Although ChatGPT already excels in many ways, the decision to disable it has also caused some opposition due to its potential privacy and security risks. Some people believe that a more scientific and objective approach should be taken to assess the risks and pros and cons of ChatGPT, and measures should be taken to regulate its use, rather than simply disabling it.

In short, this ban decision reflects people's concerns about the development of artificial intelligence technology, and also reminds us that we should pay more attention to privacy and security issues, and take effective measures to deal with these risks.

Samsung Electronics restricts the use of ChatGPT

Italy's concerns are not unfounded. According to reports, Samsung Electronics introduced the chat robot ChatGPT less than 20 days ago, and recently leaked confidential information, such as semiconductor equipment measurement data, product yield, etc., which have been stored in the ChatGPT learning database.

According to media sources such as Economist and SBS, there were 3 cases of misuse of ChatGPT within Samsung. Among the misuse cases of ChatGPT, 2 cases were related to semiconductor equipment, and the other was related to the content of the meeting.

In order to prevent similar accidents from happening again, Samsung is formulating relevant protection measures. If similar accidents occur in the future, Samsung may follow the example of Italy and cut off the ChatGPT service. According to rumors, Samsung is considering developing Samsung's exclusive AI service through the innovation center in the DS department
